DISCOVER

Orokonui Eco-Sanctuary is the flagship biodiversity project for the South Island where multiple species of plants and animals are protected from predators.

A predator fence surrounds 307 hectares of Coastal Otago forest, pests have been removed, the habitat enhanced with weed control and planting, and many rare and endangered species re-introduced.

Peace, tranquility and the opportunity to meander among rare and endangered birds & wildlife make Orokonui Eco-Sanctuary a regular destination to unwind and lose your senses in & forget the world beyond the perimeter fence...for a moment.

The stunning architecturally designed visitor centre with outstanding views to Blueskin Bay & Mopanui create the perfect setting for seminars, meetings, conferences or special events (including weddings, birthdays, screenings and project launches).

The building features a purpose-built meeting room, magnificent atrium, and an easy accessed landscaped garden.

And, if you'd like to spend more time at the Sanctuary, opportunities to volunteer in a variety of roles are available.
